Rising artist Mooski has social media buzzing with his viral single, “Track Star. It came equipped with its own dance challenge last June and cracked the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #99 earlier this week.
In an effort to continue climbing the chart, the 23-year-old says he’s looking to create a “dream team” remix with Toronto’s Certified Lover Boy.
“Of course, I want Drake on the remix, but it’s a lot of people I want on it,” Mooski said during an interview with Talks2Pop podcast Tuesday.
“I want to put a dream team together. I wanna come in the industry do something that nobody ever done,” he continued. “I wanna put people on a song that nobody ever put together.”
Mooksi said “it feels good” seeing the viral success of his single, “Track Star,” preceded by his other viral single, “Game of Love.”
“It always a good feeling when you set out to do something and you working and it’s actually working for you,” he said. “And Good is on your side throughout the whole thing. It’s motivating in itself.”
Mooski explained the song was about a man willing to fix the problems he has with a woman who keeps running away. “She’s a runner, she’s a track star / She gon’ run away when it gets hard / She can’t take the pain, she can’t get scarred,” he sings on “Track Star.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Mooski revealed he served in the Marines after high school and recently signed to Capitol Records. He said there’s been “a lot of talk” about potential collaborations with the likes of K Camp and “Selfish” rap-crooner PnB Rock.
“This music is really for me,” he added. “[There’s] a lot of good stuff to come. I’m focused right now on my project.”
