Killer Mike Reminisces On Good Times With DMX

Killer Mike sends his condolences to rapper DMX, who remains in grave condition following a heart attack.

On Thursday, TMZ caught up with Killer Mike, who discussed he legacy of his hip hop friend.

“His greatest legacy are his 15 children,” says Mike. “Musically, he has been an amazing man.”

“I’ve had a lot of good times with [DMX],” Mike went on, recalling some of their run-ins over the years. “The last time I saw him he was singing Christmas carols to a table at a Waffle House making everyone very happy.”

The Atlanta rapper-and-entrepreneur says a bigger part of DMX’s legacy is the lessons he’s taught through his music and his vulnerability.

“He taught people you can love through suffering. He taught people that there is no shame in addiction because he was always honest about that place,” Mike said. “He showed people there’s no shame in being sensitive and vulnerable because he never was not that. He showed people publicly that he loved God and has 15 amazing people. I hope that their father survives this.”

DMX, whose birth name is Earl Simmons, suffered a heart attack last Saturday and was transported to White Plains Hospital in New York. The 50-year-old “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” rapper has openly discussed his history of substance abuse and legal troubles over the years, including multiple stints in rehab. X completed his last rehab stay in 2019, after serving a 12-month sentence for tax evasion.
